So I, and many other people, have trouble with code, even with the code snippets. Can wikidot make a visual editor?
My first idea was - who are these "and many other people" ?
200 Millions of users ( and I think more) use wikipedia editing without any visual editor and can live with it.
This discussion is old as the technic of wikis was implemented > 15 year ago.
But in a world where
- diffferent users with
- different machines ( Mac,PC, Tablet, Mobile )
- diffferent systems (Windows, OS, Android, Linux) and
- different browsers and
- different word/editor-versions
want to work together ( =wiki-behaviour) there is the need for an absolut lowest level of source.
We will see in the future if the "cloud computing" will bring visual editors like "online office" (word, open office) working over the browsers.
You can post a wish in the feedback wiki (http://feedback.wikidot.com/wish:_all ) and try to find enough friends ( "many people") who rate it up - than there is a chance in the future that the developer team will try to find a solution.
There are some old wishes for a "WYSIWYG" editor - see http://feedback.wikidot.com/system:page-tags/tag/editor/category/wish .
But I do not believe it…

Currently Wikipedia has a visual editor for users, and it is being used by millions of people, so I think your "Wikipedia doesn't have a visual editor" argument is flawed.
I am not sure what you mean with "a visual editor" - wikipedia has it… I cannot find any visual WYSIWYG-editor on my wikiepdia articles I have written..
No chance for me to get such a visual-editor.
Please, do you have any link to such editor in wikipedia ? (perhaps a beta-version ?)

I have changed my account https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Helmuti_pdorf (english: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Helmuti_pdorf ) to use the visual editor (beta) additional to the source edit and I have to say:
- it is "surprising"….
(one of my first articles is https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Moore, written long tome ago and in german…)
Yes, with the switch in my account there is a "word - like" editor with lot of buttons to control the inserted text, tables a..s.o.
Not sure how long the page-source can be, some of the articles are really long…
And of course, "templates" and "talk" pages are ( like dataform-templates here in wikidot, not good to edit in a word-editor.
