Small edible blue purple berry. The leaves are very aromatic and the plant has a number of medicinal uses.

A very small bushy shrub, usually only a few feet tall, but occasionally up to 15ft. Flowers cover the bush in spring and summer, followed by blue-purple fruit.
Hardy to the upper teens, low 20's.
The myrtle can be grown in part shade as well as full sun. It needs only little to moderate water. Chlorosis will develop if over watered.
By seeds, by cuttings.
Berries are eaten raw. Leaves are used as a spice, and can be used as a substitute for bay leaves.
Native to the Mediterranean region and the Middle East.
