The Crime Working Group studies economic elements of the causes and consequences of crime, with particular emphasis on interventions in the criminal justice system and elsewhere that may lower crime rates.
Co-Directors
Jens Ludwig is the Edwin A. and Betty L. Bergman Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, where he is also director of the Crime Lab and co-director of the Education Lab. His research focuses on the impact of social programs with particular attention to crime.
Crystal S. Yang is a Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Her research focuses on empirical law and economics, with particular focus on issues of criminal justice, such as racial bias and the operation of the bail system, and on consumer bankruptcy.
