Previous research

I obtained my BA from Peking University and my MA and PhD from Waseda University. Before joining the JETRO Institute of Developing Economies in 2011, I conducted research at Waseda University and Hokkaido University. I am a political scientist with a particular interest in contemporary Chinese politics. My research focuses on inter-governmental relations, policy studies, state–society relations, and urban studies. I have published two books and authored book chapters and papers in various languages.
