Previous research

Based on the theme of "How democracy can solve social issues such as poverty and violence", I have studied the impact of political participation and social movement by the socially marginalized group on policy formation. I focused on land issue of Scheduled Tribe (ST) in India and picked up two states as case study. One state has laws which protect tribal land while the other doesn’t have. I have studied how the difference of legislation between the two states have occurred by analyzing the political participation and social movement by ST and political parties’ response to them.

Current research projects

I am currently interested in democratic backsliding in South Asia region and considering a comparative study of political regime and party politics between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
