The Role of Regional Organizations in Africa’s international relations

Outline

Given the recent economic growth, African countries has been strengthening and deepening their ties with the international community in various fields. External actors such as the EU, the United States, and China approach to the multi-layered intra-African actors including the governments of each country, the regional economic communities (RECs), and the African Union (AU). Among such African actors, the presence of RECs has emerged especially in recent years. This study group will examine the role of regional organizations such as RECs and the AU in Africa’s international relations, especially in the security and trade areas.
