Labor Reforms in India(2020_2_40_010)

Outline

This study aims to explicate the state of affairs of labor reforms in India since economic liberalization, with a special focus on the first two decades of this century. Taking a look at the changes in labor law and the reasoning behind these changes, this study examines in detail recent actions, policies, behavioral principles, and labor movements as well as the changing relationships among the actors in industrial relations systems, namely, the workers/trade unions and labor organizations, employers/employer organizations, and the government. Positioning labor reforms as an outcome of industrial relations as the starting point for analysis, this study aims to elucidate the factors that affect India’s labor reforms.
