The US-Sino Trade War and the Transformation of East Asian Economies(2020_2_40_011)

Outline

East Asian economies have undergone drastic structural changes since the China-United States trade war. In terms of production, various industrial sectors have been rapidly transferred from China to neighboring countries. In terms of technology, China has been forced to build an innovation system based on non-U.S. technologies. These had great influence on the international division of production and on the innovation of labor within East Asia. In this research project, we clarify the impact of the China-United States trade war on East Asian economies from the perspectives of politics, international relations, global value chains, and innovation.
