Trade Standards Compliance in Asia – Analysis of Border Rejection Data from the Supply Chain Perspective(2018_1_30_006)
Outline
The objective of this research project is to deepen our understanding of the impact of regulations/standards on international trade with a specific focus on agriculture and the food industry through the construction of rejection data that can be used for empirical research (needs to be updated every year), use of UNCTAD data on regulations, and accumulation of case studies from the supply chain perspective. The research project aims to achieve the following three objectives: 1) construction of border rejection data for empirical analysis based on published data from regulatory authorities in the EU, US, and Japan and updating this data every year; 2) empirical studies to analyze the impact of regulations/standards on international trade based on the rejection and NTM data above; and 3) accumulation of case studies on agriculture and food supply chains in developing countries.
