The Linux distribution Tails 7.2, designed for anonymous web surfing, brings some software updates and fixes issues.

The anonymizing Linux distribution Tails, also optimized for mobile use on a USB stick, is available in version 7.2. The developers have fixed minor annoyances and problems and updated core components.
In the version announcement, the Tails project writes, that the developers have upgraded the Tor Browser to version 15.0.1 – a version jump, previously version 14.5.8 was current –, which is based on Firefox 140 and thus brings useful new features. These include vertical tabs, tab groups, and a new address bar with improved search. Thunderbird, on the other hand, is included in version 140.4.0. Here, the programmers have resolved an issue: Thunderbird established connections to Mozilla's telemetry services – it no longer does so. The Linux kernel is included in version 6.12.57.
The maintainers have removed the root console. To get a root console, users should simply call sudo -i in the normal console. Notifications with the "Don't ask again" option now only appear after the clock has been synchronized with network time.

Tails 7.2 is available as an image for transferring to USB sticks for download. This allows computers outside the "home security zone" to be used with protected privacy. However, installation images in the form of ISO images that the Tails project provides for download are also available on a dedicated website for burning to DVDs or for trying out in a VM.
The version 7.1 of Tails, released in mid-October released version 7.1 of Tails, brought initial minor software updates and fixes for annoying bugs, after the distribution had recently moved to the current Debian Trixie base with version 7.0.
