School Bus Replacement Program

The School Bus Replacement Program offered funds to replace old diesel school buses in disadvantaged and low-income communities throughout California. The California Energy Commission is helping schools embrace next-generation zero-emission vehicles and improve children’s health by reducing their exposure to transportation-related air pollution.

Working to Replace the State’s Oldest, Most Polluting School Buses

More than 94ドル million was available through the School Bus Replacement Program for public school districts, county offices of education, and joint power authorities, most of which supported replacing old diesel school buses with pollution-free electric vehicles.

Senate Bill 110 appropriated up to 75ドル million to the program from the California Clean Energy Jobs Act (Proposition 39), an initiative that voters approved in 2012.

The Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program will fund complementary agreements to provide charging infrastructure and workforce training and development opportunities for drivers and maintenance technicians.
