Google Vids is an AI-powered video creation app for work. Use Vids to create, write, produce, edit, collaborate, and share your videos.

  • Videos created with Google Vids have a maximum duration of 10 minutes. Limits are subject to change. Learn about limits for Google Vids.

You can use Vids on your computer with the two most recent versions of these browsers:

Other browsers may work, but you might not be able to use all of the features.

Tip: Currently, you can’t edit or comment in Vids in Safari. You can use playback after a video is processed.

The following types of media can be uploaded from your computer or from Google Drive.

Create a new video

You can create a new video, or make a new version of a video already created in Vids by copying and editing a video that’s already been made.

  1. On your computer, open a new video in Google Vids.
    • Tip: To quickly open a new video, type vids.new in your browser’s address bar and press Enter.
  2. Choose an option to create a new video:

Tip: To start a video from scratch, select "Blank Vid" or click Close to close the window and open your new video.

* If your account doesn’t have access to AI features in Google Vids, these options won’t appear in the getting started screen. Learn about Google Vids availability.

Copy a video

You can copy an existing video in Google Vids to build a new or updated version.

  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. Click File and then Make a copy .
    • Tips:
      • To make a copy of a video from Drive, right-click to open the menu bar and then click Make a copy.
      • You can copy the full video or selected scenes.

Edit & format a video

You can add, edit, or format text, images, or videos in each scene and you can customize transitions between scenes.

Share & collaborate with Vids

You can share your videos and select whether collaborators can view, edit, or comment on them.

You can choose to share videos created in Vids as:

  • Google Vids files
  • MP4s in Google Drive
  • MP4s downloaded to your device

Tip: To collaborate with others on your video, share as a Google Vids file and choose an access level:

  • Commenters: Can add comments to the video but can’t make changes to the video.
  • Editors: Can add comments and make changes to the video.
Share as a Vids file
  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. At the top right corner, click Share .
  3. Add the people, groups, or events you want to share your file with.
  4. Click the drop-down that appears after you add people to select access level:
    • Viewer
    • Commenter
    • Editor
  5. Click Send.
Share as an MP4 in Drive
  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. At the top right corner next to Share , click Quick sharing options .
  3. To export as an MP4 to Drive, click Export to Drive .
  4. To open the MP4 file in Drive, click Open now.
  5. To update access and find the link to your file:
    1. Open the MP4 file.
    2. At the top right corner, click Share .
Share after you download as an MP4
  1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
  2. In the menu, click File and then Download as MP4.
    • The file downloads as an MP4 file that you can share with others to watch.

Watch a video shared with you

Anyone with a Google account can view a video shared with Google Vids.

Tip: To access Google Vids on your mobile device, you can use a compatible web browser. You can watch processed videos on your mobile device but you can’t edit or add comments to videos.
