Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit template-protected}} template. - FlightTime (open channel) 20:52, 18 April 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

@Nagsb: One reply/post does not equal consensus, really? - FlightTime (open channel) 21:01, 18 April 2023 (UTC) [reply ]
@FlightTime if you want you can probably initiate a move review: see WP:IMR how to do it. But for now this is the name of template for a soft redirect with Wikidata item. Nagsb (talk) 21:05, 18 April 2023 (UTC) [reply ]
I'm not interested in "initiating" anything, I'm just saying you do not have consensus with just one editor making a post. - FlightTime (open channel) 21:32, 18 April 2023 (UTC) [reply ]
@FlightTime the title of the template in question is {{Soft redirect with Wikidata item }}, this is a simple fact. I humbly request a modification to the corresponding link in order to accurately reflect the updated title. Nagsb (talk) 21:51, 18 April 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

The vast majority of rcats begin with a wikilink to their category. Although that cat is technically not produced by the rcat, they have the same purpose. Should we add a wikilink to that category? CLYDE TALK TO ME/STUFF DONE 16:14, 21 September 2023 (UTC) [reply ]

@ClydeFranklin this is tracking category (see MediaWiki:Connected-redirect-category) added by T185743. If you wish to add a wikilink to that category in this template, we'll need a bot to run periodically. This bot will place this template in redirects that are within this category but do not have this template already. This approach offers the advantage of generating Category:Unlinked Wikidata redirects (i.e. those with this template but not connected to a Wikidata item) for manual review. I would like to request an edit to Template:R with Wikidata item to add automatic categorization of pages using this template into Category:Redirects connected to a Wikidata item.

At present, the end of the template looks like this:

 |all category=<!--for automatic namespace detection-->
}}<noinclude>
{{Documentation}}
</noinclude>

Could it please be changed so that it instead reads:

 |all category=<!--for automatic namespace detection-->
}}<includeonly>[[Category:Redirects connected to a Wikidata item]]</includeonly><noinclude>
{{Documentation}}
</noinclude>

This will ensure that any redirect page using {{R with Wikidata item }} is automatically categorized into Category:Redirects connected to a Wikidata item, instead of relying on editors manually adding the category, while keeping the documentation page itself uncategorized. Not necessaryCategory:Redirects connected to a Wikidata item is automatically added to appropriate redirects by the Mediawiki software. P.I. Ellsworth , ed.welcome!05:02, 20 August 2025 (UTC) [reply ]
