Usage

Use this rcat template on mainspace redirects only.
  • Use this rcat for any redirect that is an alternative scientific name of an organism and targets the scientific name used as the title of the Wikipedia article (which should be the scientific name accepted as correct by reliable sources).
  • An unnamed parameter may be used to specify more precisely the kind of organism involved and to put the article in the appropriate subcategory. For example, {{R from alternative scientific name|fungus}} sorts the redirect to Category:Redirects from alternative scientific names of fungi.
Parameters currently supported and the resulting categories are:

  • Add this rcat to a redirect page (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:
#REDIRECT[[(target article title)]]
{{Rcat shell|
{{R from alternative scientific name}}
{{R printworthy}}
}}
Template {{Rcat shell }} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT[[(target article title)]]
{{R from alternative scientific name}}
This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team , who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia.
The second parameter, |2=, may be used if the redirect is not printworthy in the following manner:
{{Rcat shell|
{{R from alternative scientific name|2=unprintworthy}}
{{R unprintworthy}}
}}
or the 2= may be omitted if the first parameter is empty:
{{Rcat shell|
{{R from alternative scientific name||unprintworthy}}
{{R unprintworthy}}
}}
and if used by itself:
{{R from alternative scientific name||unprintworthy}}
{{R unprintworthy}}
Use of the 2nd parameter subdues the Printworthy redirects category and populates Category:Unprintworthy redirects.
