This article is currently slated for merging as a result of its deletion discussion. It was nominated for deletion and there was consensus to merge it into ANOTHER ARTICLE as an alternative to deletion. You can implement the merge by following the merging instructions and the resolution reached. (December 2025)

Description

The {{Afd-merge to }} and {{Afd-merge from }} templates are intended for use by the closer of a AfD debate with a consensus to merge the nominee into another article or by a different user acting on such a decision.

Usage

Upon removing the {{afd }} notice (if still present), add the {{Afd-merge to }} tag to the top of the nominated article (not its talk page). Use the following format:

{{Afd-merge to|destination article|debate name|debate closure date}}

For example, assume that a debate was closed on 10 December 2025. If the consensus is to merge the nominated article into an article called Topic X, and the debate is located at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Topic Y (second nomination), the tag should be configured as follows:

{{Afd-merge to|Topic X|Topic Y (second nomination)|10 December 2025}}

This will generate the following notice:

This article is currently slated for merging as a result of its deletion discussion. It was nominated for deletion and there was consensus to merge it into Topic X as an alternative to deletion. You can implement the merge by following the merging instructions and the resolution reached. (December 2025)

Also add the {{Afd-merge from }} tag to the top of the destination article's talk page (not the article itself). Use the following format:

{{Afd-merge from|nominated article|debate name|debate closure date}}

For example, assume that a debate was closed on 10 December 2025. If the consensus is to merge an article called Topic Y into the article associated with the talk page, and the debate is located at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Topic Y (second nomination), the tag should be configured as follows:

This will generate the following notice:

The article Topic Y was nominated for deletion. The discussion was closed on 10 December 2025 with a consensus to merge the content into Template:Afd-merge to . If you find that such action has not been taken promptly, please consider assisting in the merger instead of re-nominating the article for deletion. To discuss the merger, please use this talk page.
Do not remove this template after completing the merger. A bot will replace it with {{afd-merged-from}}.

Category suppression

This template will add the categories Category:Articles proposed for merging and Category:Articles currently being merged following AfD discussion. These categories can be suppressed by using |nocat=true.
