Purpose? List?

Is this page the place for a more detailed listing / description of the various control panels that are available?

We are investigating control panels for our own purposes. A start @ our efforts is at:

Would it be inappropriate to fill in the pages outlining the various control panels as they're linked to on this topic? Or would that fall under advertising for those companies? I'm not affiliated with any, but I'm curious. I do believe each of those I'm familiar with have had print publications in The WHIR and such as the guidelines mention, but I don't have any to cite off-hand. - qwidjib0

If any of them are notable enough for their own article, then there's no reason not to start one. WP:SOFTWARE, WP:CORP, and WP:WEB are probably the most applicable guidelines for determining notability of these potential articles. As I look at the article, the parts that say "Notable software often used as a web-based control panel include" and the FOSS software are separate sections, and thus I think there should be a list of all common FOSS solutions for people to chose between. I personally have used the two I added (which were removed by AbsolutDan) and thought they were worth at least mentioning maybe without the red links. Maybe, if this article isn't the place, a new article composing of only a list should be created and linked.U235 17:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC) [reply ]

There should be a list of notable control panel systems in here. I'm shocked out how bad and skeletal this page is, given the geek quotient at Wikipedia. I am adding content to this page as I have expertise in this field but anyone is welcome rectify any mistakes. I will add sources soon from authentic sources.
