Talk:Random walker algorithm
It is of interest to the following WikiProjects:
what is random walk with restart
"First description"
[edit ]The citation for "in it's first description" is certainly wrong. For example,
- M. MeilPa and J. Shi, "Learning segmentation by random walks," in Neural Information Processing Systems, 2001.
Is from 2001 (compared to the "first description" in the current article from 2006). --MartinThoma (talk) 17:03, 2 January 2016 (UTC) [reply ]
Redirecting to websites that do not support HTTP
[edit ]A lot of citations here redirect to what seems to be the personal website of Leo Grady (https://leogrady.net/about/) which does not support HTTPS and therefore render viewing the paper harder if the user's browser blocks it and the user is distrustful.
In general it's bad practice to point to a personal website if the paper is available open-source, In this case, the first link at least should be the one where it's published in the IEEE website: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/1704833
Moreover, if we are to point to the personal page at all, it shouldn't be the first thing the user finds on the page. It should also be made explicit: instead of having the name point to his personal website (for the Nth time at that point) it should be said explicitly he has a website and then we can add a link there.
