The DVD commentary on Throne of Blood says that Akira Kurosawa liked to use multiple cameras because it gave him more material to work with, and because it kept the actors from "playing to the camera". We all know that both The Jeffersons and Sanford and Son were both shot before a live studio audience. But what about the few episodes when they were on vacation? For example, both shows had a few episodes that were filmed in Hawaii, (Sanford and Son in 1976; The Jeffersons in 1980) and an audience was still present. How exactly do they do that?
