Java 8 has reached end of support and will be deprecated on January 31, 2026. After deprecation, you won't be able to deploy Java 8 applications, even if your organization previously used an organization policy to re-enable deployments of legacy runtimes. Your existing Java 8 applications will continue to run and receive traffic after their deprecation date. We recommend that you migrate to the latest supported version of Java.

Using the Java 8 Development Server

The Java 8 development server runs on your local machine and emulates most of the Search API's capabilities.

A few features are not available on the server. You should not attempt to use the following features when you run on the development server:

Stemming

Stemming of field values (for example "~cat") is not implemented.

Tokenization

String fields in Asian languages are not tokenized on the development server.

Scoring

The match scoring mechanism is not implemented.

Diacriticals

Diacritical marks (such as accent marks) cannot be used in atom, text, and HTML fields.
