The SWTPC 6800/6809 Emulator was designed to run 6800 and
6809 programs written for the SWTPC 6800 and 6809 machines without any modification at
all. This is accomplished by emulating all of the hardware of original machine not
just the processor and OS. The emulator will correctly execute all of the instructions of
the microprocessor being emulated except the 6809 SYNC instruction. The peripheral
hardware that is emulated is the hardware found in the systems that I personally own
and/or have knowledge of.
Over the years (since 1997), other systems have been added to the emulation by adding additional
I/O cards and processor boards. For instance, the Altair 680b was added as well as the 6309
processor. I am currently in the process of adding the Microbox II designed by David Rumball and
then enhanced by Philippe Roehr. This one is a bit tricky because it has a graphic processor
and can have a serial port console or a graphics terminal console. It also supports graphics with
the serial port console.
See the Features page to see what hardware is supported.
