Ram First of Shawwal 1446 (Eid day), Monday 31st March for Algeria, and most of the Muslim World
This year, Algeria— along with several other Arab countries, including Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Oman, Libya, and Tunisia— broke away from Saudi Arabia’s dominant yet questionable moon-sighting narrative. They didn't follow the claim of the sighting of an 'invisible moon' as it happens almost every year, but instead completed Ramadhan with 30 days and celebrated the Eid on Monday 31st of March.
The Saudi story became quickly more baseless as " explanations" of their sighting started being circulated showing armchair "sighters" from whom the sighting report originated, pointing to an illusionary crescent in an opening within rather high altitude clouds... In particular, watch this telling testimony of unsuccessful crescent sighting from seasoned astronomers (Qatif Astronomy Association) from Saudi Arabia itself.
An "inexistant crescent" ought to be Invisible!
All the other Muslims countries East of the Arabic penisula which base their Eid celebration on effective crescent sighting celebrated the Eid on Monday 31st of March, while those following criteria which don't impose the actual sighting celebrated it on Sunday 30th.

بلاغ حول هلال الشوال 1446ه
تود جمعية الشعرى لعلم الفلك إفادة الجمهور الكريم بالمعطيات الفلكية التالية بشأن اقتران هلال شوّال 1446 الذي يحدد يوم عيد الفطر. نؤكد أن الجهة الوحيدة المخوَّلة للإعلان عن تاريخ العيد هي اللجنة الوطنية للأهلة التابعة لوزارة الشؤون الدينية .
حول رؤية هلال العيد يوم السبت 29 مارس (ليلة 29 رمضان) :
بناءً على الحسابات الفلكية، سيتم اقتران هلال شوّال يوم السبت 29 مارس على الساعة 11:57 بالتوقيت المحلي الجزائري، أي قبل غروب الشمس. وبالتالي، فإن رؤية الهلال مساء ذلك اليوم ستكون مستحيلة سواء بالعين المجردة أو باستخدام الوسائل البصرية. لذلك، ومن الناحية العلمية، سيكون شهر رمضان 30 يوماً، وسيتم الاحتفال بعيد الفطر يوم الاثنين 31 مارس .
من الجدير بالذكر أن كسوفاً شمسياً جزئياً سيحدث صباح يوم السبت 29 مارس، وسيكون مرئياً بشكل طفيف من الجزائر. حدوث هذا الكسوف، الذي يتزامن مع الاقتران القمري، يؤكد استحالة رؤية الهلال مساء ذلك اليوم نظراً لقصر المدة الفاصلة بين الاقتران وتحري الهلال بعد غروب الشمس (18 دقيقة في الجزائر العاصمة وارتفاع الهلال 3 درجات فوق الأفق). هذه النتائج متوافقة مع جميع المعايير الفلكية المعترف بها عالمياً . أما معيار دانجون (Danjon) يُعد معيار دانجون أكثر تشدداً، حيث يشترط أن تكون الزاوية الفاصلة بين القمر والشمس (الاستطالة) 7 درجات على الأقل ليتكون الهلال ممكنة. وهذا الشرط غير متوفر في حالتنا هذه .
السيناريو الثاني المحتمل :
الطريقة الوحيدة التي قد تجعل شهر رمضان 29 يوماً، وبالتالي الاحتفال بالعيد يوم الأحد 30 مارس، هي الاعتماد على رؤية خاطئة للهلال عندنا، كما يحدث للأسف في كثير من الأحيان. كما يوجد هناك احتمال كبير أن يدعى رؤية الهلال في بعض الدول العربية، خاصة في المملكة العربية السعودية، مما سيؤدي إلى تأثير الدومينو في باقي الدول العربية، ولن تكون الجزائر بمنأى عن ذلك .
من ناحية أخرى، إذا تم الاعتماد على "الحساب الفلكي"، أي وجود القمر فوق الأفق دون اشتراط رؤيته فعلية للهلال، كما هو الحال في تركيا ودول البلقان وبعض الجاليات المسلمة في أوروبا والولايات المتحدة، فإن يوم الأحد 30 مارس سيكون أول أيام شوّال، وبالتالي يوم عيد الفطر .
حالة الدول الواقعة شرق الجزائر :
في هذه الدول، خاصة في الشرق الأوسط، ستكون مدة بقاء القمر (مكث) فوق الأفق أقصر مما هي عليه عندنا. ففي مكة المكرمة، سيغيب القمر بعد 8 دقائق من غروب الشمس، مع استطالة تبلغ 2.2 درجة، بينما في إندونيسيا، الواقعة في أقصى الشرق، سيغيب القمر قبل غروب الشمس بـ 6 دقائق. وبالتالي، فإن استحالة رؤية الهلال ستكون أكثر وضوحاً في هذه المناطق. في الواقع، الهلال لن يكون مرئياً بالعين المجردة إلا من الساحل الغربي للولايات المتحدة .

تود جمعية الشعرى لعلم الفلك إخبار الجمهور الكريم ببعض المعلومات الفلكية بشأن هلال شهر رمضان وما يمكن استنتاجه بشأن بداية شهر الصيام المبارك.
ولادة هلال رمضان يوم الجمعة 28 فيفري
لقد تم تحديد ليلة الشك الموافقة لـ 29 شعبان 1446 هـ بيوم الجمعة 28 فبراير 2025 من طرف وزارة الشؤون الدينية. أما اقتران هلال رمضان 1446هـ ، فسيحدث فجر الجمعة على الساعة 01:45 حسب التوقيت المحلي. وبما أن الاقتران سيتم قبل غروب الشمس، وأن القمر سيغرب بعد غروبها، فإن إمكانية رؤيته ممكنة بالعين المجردة في ظروف مناخية جيدة، لكنها ستكون صعبة. بناءً على هذا، نتوقع إعلان بداية شهر رمضان المبارك يوم السبت أول مارس، بمشيئة الله. نلاحظ أن هذا العام، في جميع أنحاء العالم الإسلامي، سيكون القمر فوق الأفق وقت غروب الشمس ولكن بارتفاعات متفاوتة. ومع ذلك، على خلاف إفريقيا وجنوب غرب أوروبا، فإن رؤية الهلال بالنسبة للبلدان الواقعة في الشرق الأوسط وآسيا ستكون ممكنة فقط باستخدام التلسكوب وليس بالعين المجردة. كل هذه المعلومات تتوافق مع المعطيات العلمية الصادرة عن الهيئات الفلكية العالمية بشأن الاقتران وإمكانية رؤية الهلال، وفقاً لبيانات المراصد والمراكز البحثية، ومنها المؤسسة العلمية. Faintly gleams a new-born crescent to the seekers of the light ;
Who will see that early portent, on this pristine August night ?
Month by month, through countless ages, man has sought the Moon’s rebirth ;
Month by month her cycle guides us, on an ever-changing Earth .
On each continent and island, watchers of the crescent blend ,
On a planet without borders, hope and vision without end .
"Sing the wide-winged Moon!" cried Homer, watching from his distant sky ;
"Soothingly thy smile," wrote Goethe, "spreadest round me, far and nigh ."
Watchers of the sky, all poets, may you wax and never wane ,
Young in heart as this new crescent, every month a steady gain ;
All you Watchers Without Borders, may your crescent shine tonight ;

Ramadan, for observant Muslims, is a time of fasting, prayer and charitable giving. Here is a beautiful poem about Ramadhan, by Rumi, a 13th-century Persian poet and mystic:
O moon-faced Beloved,
the month of Ramadan has arrived
Cover the table
and open the path of praise.
O fickle busybody,
it’s time to change your ways.
Can you see the one who’s selling the halvah
how long will it be the halvah you desire?
Just a glimpse of the halvah-maker
