A Resource Guide to the
American Language as spoken in the states of New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland
The Mid-Atlantic region is linguistically very diverse. Elements of New
England, Midwestern, Appalachian, and Coastal Southern speech can all
be found within its confines. Regrettably, however, few comprehensive
treatments of the various dialects exist. Evolution Publishing
is proud to make available four books on the speech within
Pennsylvania. Future volumes will treat other areas in the region. We
have also
collected an extensive bibliography with about 150 books and articles
on Mid-Atlantic dialectology.
