New Feature: Advanced Player Stats by Week

By

I've been meaning to implement this for a while. Want to know who were the real heroes and goats are each week? Now we've got WPA, EPA, and bunch of other stats all on one page to help figure it out. There is now a new version of the individual stats pages broken out by week.

For example, in week 14, the top QBs were Peyton Manning (+0.63 WPA/+17.2 EPA) and Jason Campbell (+0.51 WPA/+23.9 EPA).

Here are the top RBs, WRs, and TEs.

Next week I'll have time to add a page for defenders.

On the QB page, is it only players that finished games? Aaron Rodgers and Tarvaris Jackson have been excluded for week 14.

    Nice touch by the way.

I've been waiting for you to do this, awesome! It's interesting that my QB, Alex Smith, had a great AYPA but a REALLY low success rate.

The WPA/G column is probably redundant, and it'd be great to see TDs next to Ints.

True, and the Games Played column is redundant too. Right now it's just a subsest of the overall stats page. I'll customize it down the road.

Regarding the guys who didn't show up, there's a cutoff level for minimum attempts. I should probably remove that too.

Okay, is there anyway to navigate to that page other than directly through the link in this article? I'm assuming that's coming at some point, but I thought I'd ask.

Of course, you struggle here with the small sample size problem. For example, Matt Schaub threw 2 interceptions, but one of them (as I recall) was a very catchable ball that was missed by the receiver and wound up in the hands of a defender. He also had at least 6 straight-up drops. Over the course of a season this MAY dilute out when making quarterback comparisons, but for one game? Not likely.

Peyton Manning during his "slump" in Weeks 11-13.

    Week 11: +0.19
    Week 12: -0.13
    Week 13: -0.18
TOTAL: -0.12, or -0.04 per game

    Quite the "slump"...

Relatively speaking it was a big slump

Brian, do you include running stats in the QB WPA and EPA?
