Infinity

The following paragraph is taken from a new chapter, The Time Space Correlation, which doesn’t appear on Dr. Asher Eder’s book The Star of David, which was published in 1987 in English in Jerusalem by Rubin Mass Ltd.
While the hexagram, formed by two equilateral interlacing triangles, may stand for the world with its material and spiritual aspects and their manifold polarities given to our perception, the beyond is marked here by the commonly accepted sign for infinity and eternity, namely the figure 8 in horizontal position: oo.
It is not merely incidental that this sign is composed of two joining zeros. The supposed naught (no thing) before there was anything could be indicated by one zero. The joining of two zeros to form the figure 8 was apparently invented to indicate the state beyond, or "after", the perceptible world characterized by the number seven and what it stands for (e.g. 7 days; 7 colors of the visible light; 7 notes of the scale). In its horizontal position, the sign oo would then mark eternity so-to-speak "before" and "after" the world of 7, the latter being embedded therein. This "before" and "after" should not be understood merely timewise. It rather includes --even foremost so-- the so-called supernatural forces attributed to the Divine which our present science is not able to "count, measure, weigh".
Not surprisingly, the number eight plays an important role in the Tanakh which, inter alia, ordains circumcision as a sign of the Divine Covenant to be performed on the eighth day.

Shuriken

Shuriken Magen David The Magen David is defensive; it is supposed to protect its bearer. One can learn this from the original Hebrew name, Magen David, which means Shield of David, and one can remember how King David won his battles only by the support of the Almighty. But since thought is dualistic it has always an opposite side in the background. No wander Liam Baldwin asked himself whether the Star of David can be offensive… he came up with a funny answer – a ninja weapon! I like Liam's fruitful imagination – he took something we all know, something familiar, and showed it to us from an unexpected direction.

Atheism

On Nov. 30, 2006, in the Jerusalem Post, Samuel Freedman, a professor of journalism at Columbia University, and the author of six books, wrote an article about atheism where he claimed that in the last few years a new phenomenon of global atheism is flourishing as a backlash to Islamic jihadists bomb, murder and behead in the name of Allah. In the United States, the Christian Right… From our own midst, Yigal Amir and Baruch Goldstein embodied the strain of political violence executed on the pretext of divine sanction.

In this frame of thought Samuel Freedman mentions that
Zionism in its secular heyday offered a belief system with everything except a supernatural being. It appropriated the Bible, the Magen David and the menora as symbols of Jewish self-determination.
IMHO Zionism was never a secular belief system. For example: It’s flag was based on the Talith, the Jewish prayer shawl; Theodore Herzl answered the needs of the Jewish masses who sought a new messiah; Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook (1865-1935) said that Zionism is a step in the Jewish religious redemption. Author S.Y. Agnon was a Zionist and a religious man etc.
Jews cannot hide from their identity. Even an Atheist Jew is a Jew…

Pyramid and Hexagram

Pyramid and Hexagram Jewish starThe following paragraph is from Dr. Asher Eder’s book The Star of David, which was published in 1987 in English in Jerusalem by Rubin Mass Ltd. The publication here is courtesy of Oren Mass
This version includes corrections and new materials that do not appear on the printed version
In his most interesting studies about the Cosmic Numbers of the Cheops Pyramid, Dr.Noetling records an observation which led him to the conclusion that the architects of the Cheops pyramid knew the hexagram. He demonstrates that the measurements of the Cheops pyramid, and especially those of the stone coffer in its royal chamber, reflect perfectly all kinds of cosmic numbers.
In his searches, he found in Egypt, and curiously enough also in Burma, pedestals for statues in the shape of interlaced and decapped pyramids:
He found out that the drawing of the intersecting lines of these pedestals produces, naturally so, hexagrams whose angles differ in accordance with the geometrical intersection:
Since the base angles of the pyramid are not equal to the apex angle, the hexagrams
resulting from geometrical intersections cannot be equilateral either: we get "prolonged" or "squeezed" shapes. Dr. Noetling reasoned that these are the original shapes of the hexagram, and thus are the genuine ones which would reflect the cosmic numbers and qualities expressed by the pyramid. The harmonious hexagram, he suggests, is fashioned for the sake of ornamentation and beauty.
Interestingly enough, Dr. Ed Metzler in his profound studies on Mosaical Matrixes, comes to a similar result, however from a different point of view. He figured out that the original Two Tablets of the Decalogue consisted of two rectangular stone slabs which had the Ten Words written in ten lines in such a way that the slabs, besides showing the text of the Decalogue, set the standards for weights and measures of the Torah. The division of each tablet into 150 letter-units of 1/10 cubit led him to superimpose the prolonged hexagram on the slabs:
While both these above scientific observations might be quite correct, we ought to bear in mind that Moses and the Israelites left Egypt not only geographically. The Exodus was, and is, foremost a departure from Egypt's confinement to the forces of nature. The famous ten plagues recorded in the Book of Exodus strike in fact against deified nature forces, proving that these are subordinate to the Almighty Creator of Heavens and Earth. As these nature forces exist, and play their roles, Moses and the Israelites had no reason to deny their existence. It was, and is, their deification which is to be rejected. From the days of Abraham it is the Israelites' aspiration to raise man's consciousness above the physical nature into the realm of the Divine virtues as expressed in Exod. 34:6,7, and others, and make these our guiding force (,זה אלי אנוהו “This is my God, and I'll prepare Him a habitation", Exod. 15:2), not in suppression of, but in accord with the physical forces.
Seen from this perspective, it is quite logical to envision, and draw, the hexagram in a symmetrical shape - in contrast to the design the Egyptians may have gotten by interlacing two pyramids.
Also the prolonged hexagram gleaned from the Two Tablets is certainly a very interesting and stimulating derivation, but not necessarily a compelling conclusion which would show the true shape of our Magen David. In fact, even its author, Dr. Metzler, speaks of the prolonged hexagram at which he derived, as "Mosaical Hexagram", and not as Magen David.
Moreover, doubts whether the prolonged hexagram can truly be identified as Magen David, arise not only from the usual drawing of the hexagram as a symmetric design. It is rather the peculiar commandment to have pomegranates in the Temple service which points to another understanding.

Flower holder

Smiling Star of David

On the bottom right Chanukah dice there's a cute Smiling Magen David - the first I've seen so far, although it looks so familiar that I feel I've seen it all my life.
This is another instance of the frequent appearance of the menorah next to the six pointed star. The first joint appearance of these two main Jewish symbols had been in the Tabernacle , according to Uri Ofir's research.
