Google Toolbar 8, Powered by Google Chrome
After Google released Chrome, Google Toolbar's development slowed down. That's because Google Toolbar is no longer the primary vehicle for adding browser features and Google mostly focused on improving Chrome.
Google Toolbar 8 is a completely new version of Google's add-on that was available as part of Google Labs. "Google Toolbar 8 is actually built and runs on top of the Google Chrome Frame platform. This means that Toolbar 8 will run more like a web app in that it can be customized and updated much more frequently and easily. It also means that Google Chrome Frame is installed at the time of Toolbar 8 installation," explains Google.
The new version of Google's toolbar only works in Internet Explorer right now and it doesn't include all the features that are currently available in the latest public version. Google included some new features: buttons for the most visited sites, Google Dictionary integration and Google Instant. "Google Toolbar displays up to seven of your most visited sites as buttons. Click on a button to go directly to its site. When you download the new Google Toolbar your toolbar will display buttons for Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Youtube, Google News, Google Reader and Google Tasks by default."

IE? IE????
Reply DeleteIt's just crazy I can't use toolbars in Chrome - Roboform and Google. Because of this I use Firefox as the Roboform toolbar at the bottom is lame and I use Google toolbar for searches daily because of the text search buttons it adds to the toolbar letting me find my search text in the webpages easily.
Reply DeleteWhy on earth on IE? Why can't they add this toolbar to non IE or chrome browsers? That will make the world know of Google's power...
Reply DeleteGoogle toolbar on Chrome, NOW!!!
Reply DeleteWhat are you waiting for people?
Especially if there's such a huge amount of requests for it.
Get it together Google!
I need my bookmarks and autofill while running Chrome, and they don't seem to work unless I go to another Bookmarks page! Also, no autofill. I use these for work everyday. Guess I have to go back to Firefox! I don't know if I am missing something, but I have been looking for a solution.
Reply DeleteThis is how the "indifference of giants" plays out. So focused on new ventures, new opportunities. Android first.
Reply DeleteWhy bother supporting existing users when there are new folks to sucker in first.
I guess i'll just have to use firefox. too bad, Google Chrome.
Reply DeletePLEASE give us a PROPER toolbar in CHROME.
Reply DeleteWE(99% of people) request it.
The WORLD thank you in advance.
thanks for this great toolbar.
Reply DeleteI'm having a crap day. Firefox wont copy and paste, Chrome has no Google toolbar. Am I going to have to use IE? The HORROR!!!
Reply DeleteDido, no way to use one of the features ot he toolbar I like the most: searching in the toolbar and automatically apperaring the bookmarks i already hab
Reply DeleteIf you really miss Google Toolbar for Google Chrome, you should have a look at efTwo Advanced Find on Page. It's almost more functional than the Toolbar, and of course has all the basic features: highlight and words based on search keywords.

It is a very, very poor substitute for Google Toolbar highlighting.
DeleteFirst and foremost, the main feature is missing - it does not offer clickable search words where you can click the word to jump to the next highlighted instance.
Second (and almost as critical) it is butt-ugly. The colours that have been chosen are hugely over-saturated turning the page into a garish eyesore which is unpleasant to read.
Finally it does not reliably populate the popup with the words from your current search. Very frequently when I type "ff" it pops open with the search words from a previous search.
I think it's dumb to think that you need google toolbar on chrome when chrome ALREADY HAS everything built in it that the toolbar has!And it has a lot more.
Reply DeleteStick google chrome where the monkey shoved its nuts. What idiot came up with the idea of no toolbar?
Reply DeleteYour “Google toolbar 8” Link is not working, page was deleted.
