Change Routes Faster in Google Maps
Google Maps lets you set intermediary points in your route and automatically adjusts the directions to the new conditions. You just have to drag the blue line to change its shape.
For example, after getting the directions from Mountain View to Palo Alto, I could change the route to pass through Stanford.
Another way to create complex routes is to add destinations in the sidebar and use drag and drop to change their order.
{ Thanks, Chris. }

Reply Deleteboss! Good find!
Reply DeleteDouggie - check out google maps pedometer (search for it - you'll find it) to map your own routes point by point. Works great where Google doesn't have roads.
Reply Deletecomment on my own comment - I use it for mapping runs through a big park where there are paths, not roads.
Reply Deleteoh... come on.... please...
Reply Deletethis is just a quick and easy way to add stops along your route, with live previews
wonder what this feature will do to Google's servers, it uses bandwidth to move the line while dragging and generate a new route
How can you delete a section of the route? I seem to keep creating u-turns & other crazy circular routes.
Reply DeleteMaps is not smart enough.. and you can't ....grrrr...after dragging the blue line a few times, I have a route that looks like a big lump of tangled spaghetti
Reply Deleteorder of the route keeps going back even if i change it several times... ugh
Reply DeleteImpossible to use, maps used to be cool, but it overrides everything, scrolls all over.
Reply DeleteHere is an example of being able to use an old fashioned input device such as keyboard in addition to the pointer drag thing would be a great addition.
