A Blast from My Past! X-Men Cover Concept by BigGuido
I decided to post an old drawing I did way back in 1987 and then finally inked in the 1990s. This was an X-Men cover idea featuring my original super hero, The SYNAPSE (the guy getting pwned by Juggernaut). I think I'm gonna revisit this one and post it here for your review.

Sketch Card Catch-Up!
I've had a wealth of paying work lately with crushing deadlines (which is good!) I've put off my entries (which is bad.) So... here we go, catching up!
First, from the Lovecraftian week:
And now, a mash-up of X-Men, Universal Monsters, and a thark from Burroughs...
That catches me up.
Obviously, I did these on double-time, one sketch cards to get me back with the rest of the class (:

"D@mn fangirls..."
Submitted for your approval... Poor Nightcrawler always seemed to have more than his fair share of fangirls. I was REALLY into the X-men back in the early 90s, so this is my homage to "Classic" Kurt. Apologies for the poor quality and lateness. I've been having some bone problems lately, particularly in my hands and hips. It's been kind of hard holding onto a pencil because of it. =/

Classic X-Men by Steven E Gordon
I'm a 'little' late on this one. Kind of funny considering I could've easily tossed out any number of already drawn X-Men. But since it would've been so easy to do that, I wanted to try and do something new even though deadlines were enveloping me.
It's not quite what I wanted to do, but I hope it'll suffice. I wanted to try something with the classic look and the classic team before everything got all "fancy" and convoluted.
...now to start planning on this week's - time permitting, of course.

Downed Sentinel
So I had a thought of Wolverine taking down a Sentinel by entering it's head and popping out it's eye once he brought the thing down.
Uncanny Memory
Here's my slightly-belated X-men entry. I had a lot to do this week, and only got to this at about 8 PM on Friday evening. I was going to just post sketch cards I did for Rittenhouse, when I came across this;
A scan of my earliest-surviving hand-made "comic book" from when I was a kid. Would've been around '87-'88 when I discovered you could staple pieces of paper together and make your own comic book. I started making stacks of them, my favorite heroes being Spidey and the X-men. I had ones that were better drawn, but like much of my art from that time, my mother saw fit to throw tons of it out (I am not making that mistake with my own children). So this is the only guy from that time that made it to the present day.
So I thought I'd do a long-overdue "recreation" of the piece, or something more in line with what I probably actually had in mind. I slapped on some simple colors and a Photoshop filter for the old color-sep look, and traced (I admit that) the logo and cornerbox.
So there you go - a nod to my childhood, both happy and sad. Sad that so much of that is lost (both the artwork and childhood) but happy I've kept with it all these years.
Cheers, folks.

Best there is
Sorry I just don't have the extra time this week to do a sketch. Thankfully, I had this piece from earlier this year, laying around. Hopefully I'll be able to do next week's with no problems.
This was done with prismacolor indigo blue and tuscan red pencils.

Emma Frost, by Axel Medellin
I had this idea of using negative space, and it looked cooler in my mind. Oh, well, it's an experiment...

Week Four: Xmen Wolverine 2 by Scott Christian Sava
So...I had some time while watching the UFC fight tonight...and thought I'd do a close-up of the Wolverine sketch. The reference of Hugh Jackman had some really nice features and lighting in his face that I couldn't get in the full version (again...working on 4 inch by 6 inch post cards).
So here's me having some more fun and trying to keep it under 2 hours.

Week Four: X-Men Wolverine by Scott Christian Sava
Another quick one.
An hour and a half on 4x6 postcard watercolor paper.
My son (Logan...yes...named after Wolverine) requested I do Wolverine.
