Our research focuses on the technical aspects of business software with the vision to find the fastest way to get insights out of enterprise data. This includes studying the efficient principles of hybrid transactional and analytical processing on modern in-memory hardware and cloud infrastructures, the scalable development and integration of different software components into a joint business processes platform, and the analysis of consolidated business objects to support data-driven decisions and to create new business value. We apply our findings to real-world scenarios and showcase future enterprise applications by developing and evaluating functional prototypes closely together with our industry partners.

HYRISE is an open-source in-memory database designed and developed at our research group. The database is actively used in our database teaching and research activities. As such, it steadily continues to be extended with new features and functionality. HYRISE is available on Github.

Literature

"A Course in In-Memory Data Management" by Prof. Dr. h.c. Hasso Plattner. This book is the culmination of six years work of in-memory research. As such, it provides the technical foundation for combined transactional and analytical workloads inside one single database as well as examples of new applications that are now possible given the availability of the new technology. The book is available at Springer.
