The abstract extension for sets which minimize the rectilinear crossing
number is completed for n up to 18. As meanwhile has been proven for
n=18 there is only one unique optimal set. But there are 409002
different abstract order types for n=17 points which obtain the minimum
number of 798 crossings. Currently we check whether all these abstract
order types can be realized as point sets. In fact we already know that
many of them can, and we conjecture that all those sets are realizable.

The server has been down since the first week of January, as the project
is close to its termination. The last few workunits are processed locally.
This webpage will keep you informed about the further progress of RCN!!
Note:
The forum, registration and all other user-interactive features
are not available any more.

The server is up and running again after a serious hardware problem.
New workunits were created meanwhile. See RadioRCN.

due to a planned power outage.

Right now we have restarted the project with the new version of BOINC
and currently a few workunits are online to check if everything works
properly. Please check your account settings.

CRUNCH OR CANCEL: Dear users! Next week we will update the server-version
of this project. Therefore all current workunits will be canceled on monday.
Please finish all your computations until sunday. See the fora for more
information.

The time you have to return results for new workunits has been
decreased to 24 hours. The reason is that we try to minimize
the number of workunits being in progress as we will upgrade
the server very soon.
