Smart Polymers Discussed at BSU
A scientific seminar dedicated to Science Day on March 27 was held at the Chemistry Department of Baku State University (BSU).
Opening the event, Faculty Dean Fuad Kerimli highlighted the achievements of the past year. He reported that faculty scientists published 223 research articles, 125 of which appeared in indexed journals. Additionally, two grant projects are currently being implemented under the faculty's auspices, and 11 scientific findings by faculty researchers have been recognized as significant results by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
Kerimli also noted the successful implementation of a dual-degree program in Petrochemistry, established through an agreement between BSU and Satpayev Kazakh National Research Technical University. In recognition of outstanding contributions to research, Gulnar Atakishiyeva, a researcher at the Fine Organic Synthesis Laboratory, was awarded an honorary diploma and a cash prize in the Young Scientist of the Year competition. Furthermore, BSU students actively participate in both national and international Olympiads, securing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the Republican Olympiad dedicated to the 101st anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the 105th anniversary of BSU.
As part of the seminar, Rasim Alosmanov, Head of the Department of High-Molecular Chemistry, delivered a presentation on Smart Polymer Materials. He provided insights into the primary categories of stimuli-responsive polymers, their applications, and future prospects in various scientific and industrial fields. Alosmanov also detailed ongoing research efforts in this area within the department.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, where participants engaged in discussions on the topic.
