BSU Hosts Seminar on Gabil’s Literary Legacy
A scientific seminar titled "History of Publication of Works of People’s Poet Gabil" was recently held at Baku State University (BSU).
Nigar Mamedova, a master’s student from BSU’s Editorial and Publishing Department, presented a detailed report during the seminar.
She highlighted that People’s Poet Gabil is one of the most prominent figures in 20th-century Azerbaijani literature. Known for his exceptional poetic talent, unique style, and vivid imagery, Gabil made a significant contribution to the development of Azerbaijani poetry.
The report traced the publication history of Gabil’s literary legacy, noting that his first poem appeared in 1944, followed by his first book of poetry in 1950. The publication process was examined in stages, covering works released during both the Soviet era and Azerbaijan’s independence. The study analyzed these books from linguistic, stylistic, editorial, and artistic design perspectives.
A comparative analysis was conducted on the poet’s works published by different publishing houses across various years. It was emphasized that Gabil’s literary contributions play a vital role in shaping Azerbaijan’s aesthetic thought, national identity, book publishing, literary culture, and readers’ tastes.
