BSU Employee Participates in Wikipedia Training
Shukufeh Aliyeva, an employee of the Scientific Library at Baku State University (BSU), participated in Wikipedia training sessions held at the Central Scientific Library (CSL) of ANAS, organized at the initiative of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education.
The sessions were conducted by Khayala Mammadli, Chief Specialist of the CSL Electronic Resources Department. She provided detailed insights into the history, purpose, functionality, social significance, and role of Wikipedia in modern information exchange. The training aimed not only to provide technical knowledge but also to encourage participants to actively engage in the open sharing of knowledge.
During the sessions, participants learned the principles of the Wikipedia platform and gained practical skills in creating and editing articles, adding links, building user pages, and working with templates. They applied their knowledge by completing individual assignments.
As a result of the training, participants created over 50 new articles and made numerous edits to existing pages, with a particular focus on enriching the Azerbaijani section of Wikipedia. They also became familiar with other Wikimedia Foundation projects, uploaded images to Wikimedia Commons, and added visual materials to articles, enhancing their technical and visual quality.
