The Delegation of the Baku State University (BSU), headed by rector, academician Abel Maharramov attended the International Conference on "Education and Management for Sustainable Development», on 16-19 March, 2011. The event was held at the University Ovidius (Constanta, Romania) and was organized by the Association of Universities of the Black Sea basin under the UN Academic Impact.

Speaking at a conference, academician Abel Maharramov told about fundamental changes in the educational system of Azerbaijan. He noted, that Azerbaijan left the group of countries with "medium human development" and was included in the category of countries with "high human development".

The conference was attended by UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Kiyo Akasaka, rectors of universities, representatives of governments, business and academia. At the conference it was agreed to develop the joint curricula in the follow field: alternative and renewable energy, green energy, eco innovation.

During the visit, the rector, Abel Maharramov, took part in celebrating the 50 anniversary of the University Ovidius.
