Thanks a lot. Your tip was savior. Editing script inside ROM wasn't enough to get rid of error code but mount/unmount solved my issue entirely. Flashing Resurrection Remix M ROM went smoothly.

Once again XDA pointed out it's worthiness in problem solving.

I got Status 7 error while performing system upgrade of my Android Lollipop on Lenovo A1000. I moved some apps to SD cards but return them. Previous system upgrade was ok but I don't remember if I did it before adding the SD card. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

still get "Status 7 error"

While flashing a rom, sometimes we get a "status 7 error". This Guide helps you to get out from it, and flash your favourite rom. Let's get started.

Move to META_INF > COM > GOOGLE > ANDROID by extracting the rom.
Here you will find a file "updater-script". Rename this file as updater-script.doc (microsoft word format) or use notepad++ (preferably)
(in some pc, extensions are nor visible. to make them visible, follow these steps)
Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking
Folder Options.
Click the View tab, and then, under Advanced settings, do one of the following:
To display file extensions, clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box, and then click OK.

Double click to open it( microsoft word preferred)
delete text, starting from "assert ....... till the semicolon ( of the last getprop command).

(See the image in the attached file for carefully deleting the lines. Click this link.)

Save the file now.
Again rename the file, and delete the .doc extention
Now go back and zip these files again. and you will get a zipped rom.

And the status 7 error has now been removed!

==>
first there is no such thing in "updater-script" file.
so whats next?
how i flash the custom rom?
is there anything on which custom rom depends or something else that i don't know.

i'm using micromax canvas nitro a311 and try to flash CM 13 for micromax ROM ( http://xdaforums.com/a310/development ) with TWRP v2.4.4

How do you install after MOUNT ? I only have Unmount button and that's it.
Seems like I simply had to wipe... to make everything work.

Hello, i need to install Cyanogen on Xperia Arc S,
So ...
1. I rooted my phone useing Eroot
2. I installed SuperSu
3. With CWM_Installer-v5.apk i install CWM recovery

I have the same problem with all custom roms, when i try to flash them i receive status 7 error.
I checked on youtube and google for fixing this.
I deleted the Asserts from META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script".

And i still same error
Some recomanded to update to phillz recovery or twrp
I tried to flash Twrp but the phone skips to enter recovery mode after flashing twrp

My phone has bootloader locked and i could not unlock bootloader.
I checked on sony website for
Unlock the boot loader
i typed
*#*#7378423#*#*
App Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. Bootloader unlock allowed says NO
I asked for my code
fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0x90F9F5C0082C32F3
i started ADB, when i type adb devices is shows the phone , but when i type fastboot devices, i receive no response

So my question is:
How can i change CWM with Phillz or TWRP? and where can i find and working Phillz recovery for xperia arc S

Installation error along with signature verification failed

Pardon me for my ignorance and believe me I have spent a week reading the forums however still questions and now have not a roadblock. I have a Xiaomi a result note (dior) , tried to flash using the stock recovery <<RedmiNoteLTE_stock_recovery_update.zip>> from Xiaomi's own website itself. Would this allow me to move to Android 6.0 version? Like I mentioned, I tried the MIUI 8 recovery earlier from Xiaomo's website itself( h**p://en.miui.com/download-218.html) however it didn't upgrade my OS to Android 6 and I could still see myself on 4.4. The only thing it did was my MIUI was updated to MIUI 8 which could have been the intent itself. However I'm new to this and when i tried a customer recovery (CW13) it gave me "installation Aborted" error and other times its throwing me to "bootloop' errors so I had to use MiFlash tool to "flash all" and then only I was able to boot my phone. Now its the Chinese native developer ROM as I see it. How do i check the mdsum as mentioned above? What needs to be checked?

Need to upgrade, pls share what am I doing wrong and how to rectify. Many thanks.

Mine didn't have the assert statement. MD5 checked out correctly. I think I must have changed something in build.prop and didn't change it back, hence the problem. I clean-flashed the previous version of the ROM (for some reason, that installed correctly), then Magisk, then booted into the ROM and downloaded the update via the OTA, and installed it that way (Pixel Experience), choosing in Advanced options to also wipe DATA partition. It then installed without an issue.

    hey!
while flashing roms, many times we get a "status 7 error". while searching in many threads, we do not get how to resolve it. i will tell you each and every thing step by step
so i made a NOOB FRIENDLY WAY TO RESOLVE STATUS 7 ERROR

make sure that the rom you have downloaded matches your phone model, if you flashed some other rom, you may hard brick your device.

    1. First extract your rom (for example using 7-zip)
    2. Go to the folder META_INF > COM > GOOGLE > ANDROID
    3. Here you will find a file "updater-script"
    4. Rename this file as updater-script.doc (microsoft word format)

    5. Double click to open it( microsoft word preferred)
    6. delete text, starting from "assert ....... till the semicolon(;) of the last getprop command. (see image in attached file-lines to delete)
    7. Now save the file
    8. Again rename the file, and delete the .doc extention
    9. now go back to the main rom folder where you extracted the 3 files. zip these files again. and you will get a zipped rom.

and the status 7 error has now been removed!:good:
    happy flashing :victory::victory:

at last, as you read in every post, i am not responsible for any bricked device.

have you already try to cook rom using android kitchen?
