About heat illness

How does heat illness happen?

Heat illness risk is affected by the following variables including the environmental condition, body, and activity.
The relevant environmental conditions are high temperature, high humidity and a lack of wind.
Lack of heat acclimatization and metabolic heat production from overexertion or exercise are risk factors associated with the body and activity.
These variables may cause heat illness.

The body normally cools itself via evaporative and radiative heat loss to the environment by sweating and increasing the skin temperature.

What is heat illness?
It's when heat balance is lost due to temperature rise, causing heat accumulation and affecting organ function.

Preventing heat illness

Prevention of heat illness

• Avoid overexertion and acclimatize yourself gradually.
• Keep an eye on the indoor temperature.
• Be especially careful if you are unwell anyway.
