On July 9, 2019, Red Hat, Inc. and International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) announced the successful completion of the acquisition of Red Hat by IBM. The transaction was approved by Red Hat’s stockholders at a special meeting held on January 16, 2019. As a result of the completion of the acquisition, Red Hat’s common stock ceased trading on The New York Stock Exchange before the opening of the market on July 9, 2019.
