We run a number of Open Days each year which offer first-hand information about our courses, the opportunity to meet some of our tutors and students, and ask them questions. Schools, teachers, parents and individuals are strongly encouraged to attend the Open Days as their priority pathway to learn about our programmes. We are supporting the University’s residential summer programme UNIQ which offers an excellent opportunity for state-educated students to experience our learning environment.

The Wainwright Fund invites secondary school students to submit a poster on a topic of your choice in Near Eastern history and archaeology. From Sumerian terracotta figurines to Egyptian poetry, from museum displays to archaeological sites, we want to know what interests you about the Ancient Near East.

The Queen’s Translation Exchange Project organises Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators, as well as creative translation workshops in schools and termly online book club for schools. Its objective is to protect and increase levels of Modern Foreign Language uptake at secondary school level, and in university applications.

The Invisible East programme at the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies brings the medieval Islamicate East to the forefront of historical research by studying texts written in the multilingual world of medieval Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asia.
