MIND Mobile Connection Services

MIND Mobile Connection Services are the general name for services provided by the university for temporary network connection.
By using these services, you can connect your own PC temporarily to the university network (MIND).

MIND Mobile Connection Services are of three main kinds, each using different technology to establish a connection. These are (1) Mobile Information Outlet Connection Service, (2) SSL-VPN Connection Service, and (3) Wireless LAN Connection Service. These services let you do things like the following.

• Mobile Information Outlet Connection Service
  Using the mobile information outlets installed throughout the university, you can connect your own PC temporarily to the university network.
• SSL-VPN Connection Service
  You can temporarily connect a PC from an off-campus location (e.g., from your home) via the Internet to servers that ordinarily can be accessed only from within the university network (MIND).
• Wireless LAN Connection Service
  You can temporarily connect your own PC to the university network using wireless LAN access points provided on each campus.

To authenticate users attempting to connect a PC to the MIND network, MIND Mobile Connection Services make use of a Common Authentication System Account or a MIND Mobile Account.
Persons having a Common Authentication System Account (students and faculty) can use MIND Mobile Connection Services without needing to apply in advance.(*1)

(*1) Note that students cannot use MIND Mobile Connection Services without having attended MIND Introductory Course.

Persons not having a Common Authentication System Account (mainly research promoters, research assistants, and visiting fellows) will need to apply separately for a MIND Mobile Account.
