MediaWiki APIs are periodically updated with new features, documentation, and fixes for known issues. This page provides an overview of these changes, making it easier for developers to keep track of improvements and iterations.

[edit ]- Week of December 8: On-wiki API documentation was heavily revised and restructured, including a complete overhaul of API:REST_API and Template:REST_API, and the addition of two new pages: API:REST_API/Get_started and API:REST API/Policies. See phab:T405972.
October 2025
[edit ]First draft of the Changelog page. This document is the first example of adopting the published API Changelog guidelines.
The changes below apply to MediaWiki version 1.45.

[edit ]- Week of October 13: Mark trailing slash Transform endpoints as deprecated. These endpoints remain functional, but will be fully sunsetted and removed by the end of January, 2026.
