"Rewrite" is an alternative rock song by Japanese rock band Asian Kung-Fu Generation. It was later popularized when it was used as the fourth and final opening for the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime, being used from episode 42 until the end of the series. A shortened cover of it appears as a playable song in Donkey Konga 3 .

Lyrics[edit ]

Woah, woah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Kishin da omoi o hakidashi tai no wa
Sonzai no shōmei ga hoka ni nai kara
Tsukan da hazu no boku no mirai wa
'Songen' to 'jiyū' de mujun shi teruyo

Yugan da zanzō o keshi sari tai no wa
Jibun no genkai o soko ni miru kara
Kyonen no karendā, hidzuke ga nai yo

Imi no nai sōzō mo kimi o nasu gendōryoku
Zenshin zenrei o kure yo woah
Woah, woah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I want to let out my strained feelings
Because there is no other proof of my existence
My future that I thought I had grasped
It's a contradiction between "dignity" and "freedom"

I want to erase the distorted afterimage
Because I see my own limitations there
In the window of my self-consciousness
Last year's calendar, there are no dates

Erase it and rewrite it
My silly super fantasy, my unforgettable presence
Rewrite it to make a comeback
Even imaginations, the driving force that makes you who you are
Give me your whole body and soul, woah
Woah, woah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
