Mario vs. Donkey Kong levels

Level EX-2 (Level x-2 in the GBA version) is the second of the Expert levels in Mario vs. Donkey Kong and its remake. The level requires eighteen (sixteen in the remake) high score stars to unlock. In the Nintendo Switch remake, the target time for this level's Time Attack is 28.00.

In the GBA version, the level uses the Donkey Kong Jungle Plus background, despite being part of the first half of Expert levels, which are set in the main worlds of the game. In the remake, this was changed to correctly use the same background as Donkey Kong Jungle.

Overview[edit ]

This level is a vertical level that mostly consists of sand platforms or many spikes. The player can easily jump to the platform on the far right, but will need to do a Backflip to reach the platform above. After jumping to the platform on the left, the player needs to perform another Backflip and then move right, collecting a 1-Up Mushroom in the process, and then perform three more Backflips to reach a couple of ropes. By using the ropes, the player can jump across three Springboards to reach a blue Color Switch and a Key. Pressing the Color Switch and picking up the Key will allow the player to reach some sand platforms that lead to the locked door.
