JICA supports the initiatives taken towards Gender Empowerment in Law Enforcement in Tajikistan

On 12-13 of March 2021, JICA Tajikistan office jointly with Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe office in Tajikistan (OSCE) organized a Round - Table on "Role of women in Law-Enforcement".

The event was initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The participants, including more than 25 women from law-enforcement agencies and the related organizations, discussed effective measures to expand the role of women in law enforcement at the round-table.

Establishment of an authorized association was considered to be the further step towards more women's participation in law enforcement.

To ensure women's full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public spheres is one of the main priorities of JICA in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDGs 5).
