Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki Met with Vice President Allafi of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya

On January 26, JICA Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki Katsura met with Vice President Abdullah Allafi of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya at JICA Headquarters.

At the opening of the meeting, Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki welcomed the Libyan delegation to JICA and recognized the importance of Libya’s stability to that of the region as a whole. She also expressed JICA’s commitment to exploring further cooperation for Libya’s development in anticipation of this summer's TICAD 9.

In response, Vice President Allafi provided an overview of initiatives being taken by the Libyan Peace Institute, which was established by the Libyan Presidential Council to promote peacebuilding and national reconciliation. He expressed hopes for JICA’s support for the institute in its efforts to achieve peace and stability in Libya through national reconciliation.

In addition, Vice President Allafi and Executive Senior Vice President Miyazaki exchanged views on potential areas of future cooperation. They confirmed that discussion would continue in coordination with the Embassy of Japan in Libya, which resumed operations last year.
