JICA President Tanaka held talks with Turkmen Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Meredov

On December 23, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko met with H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, at JICA headquarters.

President Tanaka noted that 2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Turkmenistan, and expressed JICA’s wish to continue to expand cooperation, particularly in human resource development, as a reliable partner for a "free and open Central Asia."

In response, Deputy Chairman Meredov thanked JICA for its nearly 30 years of cooperation and expressed Turkmenistan’s strong commitment to further development, especially in the education and science sectors, as well as his hope for cooperation in these areas.

The two sides also exchanged views on possible cooperation in areas such as medicine and statistics.
