National Emergency Telecommunications Plans Disaster-resilient ICTs
ITU and UN ITU plays an important role in emphasizing the
mandates critical role of ICTs in disaster risk reduction and
management, and it supports its Member States
before, during and after disasters strike.
ITU’s Strategic Plan recognizes the importance
of ICTs for disaster risk reduction and
management while addressing Sustainable
Development Goals 1, 2, 11 and 13 of the 2030
Agenda, which make reference to the need
of nations and communities to address the
challenges of disasters.
Working hand in hand with the 2030 Agenda,
the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk
Reduction 2015-2030 recognizes the need
to strengthen disaster risk governance and
coordination across relevant institutions and
sectors with a multi-stakeholder approach.
