Lost Module

Updated:

This page of IGN's Mass Effect wiki guide is all about the UNC: Lost Module Assignment, including where to find all the items and how to survive the combat encounters.

Essential Stats

  • Persuasion Points: N/A
  • Minimum Decryption: N/A
  • Minimum Electronics: N/A

Travel to Hercules

  • Location: Attican Beta - Hercules - Eletania

This Assignment can be started as soon as you gain command of the SSV Normandy SR-1 after completing "Citadel: Expose Saren". Travel to Attican Beta, the cluster marked with the Feros label, then travel to the Hercules system in the Southern end of the nebula.

When you do so, you'll be contacted by Admiral Hackett, who informs you that a surveillance drone was recently shot down over Eletania, and is requesting that you recover it before the Geth do and get their hands on the information it hold.

Before you do that however, make sure to check the system for these Discoveries to collect:

Hercules Discoveries
Stellar Object Discovery
Syided (2nd planet)
Zatorus (4th planet)

Recommended Loadout

  • Squad Tactics:
    • Tali's tech abilities will come in handy for this Assignment, as you'll be fighting synthetics.
    • Wrex is a good idea as you'll be fighting in close-quarters and he's proficient with Shotguns.
  • Shepard's Loadout:
    • You'll be facing mainly synthetic enemies in this Assignment, so Armor Piercing / Tungsten Rounds and Combat Sensor / Scanner upgrades are recommended.

Track the Data Module

Eletania Discoveries

When you touch down, set a marker to the spot northeast of the starting area, where the 5 is on our map above. It'll be called Downed Recon Probe, and the ride over will be easy enough.

Upon arrival, however, you'll find that the data module of the surveillance done has been pilfered by one of the local space monkeys (called Pyjaks in the later games), so your task is to find the one with the data module! If you now check your map, you'll find that there are four Monkey Colonies now marked on it. On our map, they're marked with 1 and 2 symbols.

Luckily, finding the Pyjak with the Data Module is actually very simple, because it'll always be located in the same approximate place: the Northern-most Monkey Colony that we've labelled with a 2 in our map above. We've called it the "Monkey Mineshaft", and for good reason: it'll take you into a Mining Tunnel.

If you want lots of Paragon Points, MAKE SURE that you don't accidentally kill a Pyjak by running over it! There's an Infinite Paragon Points exploit that you can do here, but it's only available if you don't kill any Pyjaks.

Drive on up to the Monkey Mineshaft, park the Mako, then head inside.

There's a lot of Pyjaks in the mineshaft, but only one of them will have the Data Module. While you're here, why not get some loot?

  • Medical Kit - In the opening room, on the right at the foot of a box.
  • Locked Crate - Easy Decryption. On the South wall of the opening room, next to a box.
  • Locked Crate - Easy Decryption. On the right-hand side of the central chamber, next to a large, flat, low rock.
  • Crate - In the North-West section of the central chamber, behind the large boxes.
  • Crate - In the Northern side room, at the back of the room.
  • Secure Crate - Average Decryption. In the back-left of the Eastern side room, behind a large box.

Now for the Data Module. Amazingly, the Pyjak with the Module will always be the same one: head to the back of the Eastern Side Room, and you'll find it walking close to a light stand!

At this point you can take advantage of a Paragon Morality Points exploit. After getting the Data Module from the Pyjak, make a Save and then load it. Now you'll get +6 Paragon Points every time you interact with the Pyjak!

This is a fantastic way for Renegades to max out the Paragon bar so that they can do the "UNC: Besieged Base" Assignment, which unlocks only when your Paragon bar is almost full.

Be wary, though, for once you've located the Data Module, you will be attacked by Geth in the main chamber. They come in fairly large numbers, so be ready for a substantial fight. As usual, you should take cover and use skills as needed, but consistent gunfire on one enemy and then the next is the most efficient way to take out your foes.

When you've felled all of the Geth, you can then resurface back outside, head back to the Mako, and then either continue exploring Eletania or return to the Normandy.

Prothean Ruins

While you're here, the Anomaly in the South-West is worth visiting, but only if you have the trinket that was obtained from the "UNC: Asari Consort" Assignment (you get the trinket by completing "UNC: Xeltan's Complaint" first, THEN Asari Consort).

Head to the marker in the South-West of the area (marked with a 7 on our map) and interact with it. After cracking it, interact with it again to get some very interesting backstory regarding the Protheans!

If you're following our Uncharted Worlds Roadmap, your next task will be a big one: "UNC: Geth Incursions".
