Side Missions

In Mass Effect 3, Side Missions are broken up into several types in the Journal. Citadel Missions can be found simply be overhearing conversations and interacting with people on the Citadel. Citadel Arena Missions are those completed at the Armax Arsenal Arena in the Citadel DLC. N7 Missions are given by Specialist Traynor on the Normandy after main story Missions. Search and Rescue Missions involve using the titular mechanic to recover items to deliver to NPCs. Reunion Missions involve reuniting with a character from Mass Effect 2 in a dedicated level.

Side Missions in Mass Effect 3 are tricky to talk about, because the story Mission "Priority: The Citadel 2" is considered a big milestone that causes many of them to expire, unable to be completed. This results in three possible effects on a Side Mission:

• A Side Mission is MUST be completed BEFORE "Priority: The Citadel 2".
• A Side Mission can be started before "Priority: The Citadel 2", but can be completed at any time.
• A Side Mission can be started before "Priority: The Citadel 2", but can't be completed until AFTER it.

Because of this, the tables for the Citadel and Search and Rescue Side Missions have been broken up into sections based on when they can and should be completed. For a full list of everything you should have checked off, visit the page for "Priority: Tuchanka".

Citadel Side Missions

Citadel Side Missions are those that are begun on the Citadel. This section includes every Side Mission whose primary name begins with the "Citadel: " prefix, but some of these have some overlap with the Search and Rescue Missions in terms of how they're designed.

Citadel Arena Missions

Citadel Arena Missions are the Side Missions you can undertake via the Arena Email terminal at the Armax Arsenal Arena in the Citadel DLC.

N7 Missions

N7 Missions are one of the more unique Side Mission types in the game, as they use the original six multiplayer maps (the multiplayer itself takes place after Shepard visits them, as indicated by Hackett committing forces to them afterward). Aside from their short length, they otherwise share little in common with the N7 Assignments from Mass Effect 2.

Search and Rescue Missions

Search and Rescue Missions are fetch quest Side Missions, begun by talking to someone on the Citadel, going out to find the item they want, then bringing it back for a reward (in many cases, you can recover the item before talking to them first!). There are a few Citadel Side Missions that work like these, but this section only focuses on those that do NOT use the "Citadel: " prefix.

Reunion Missions

Renion Missions are a special type of Side Mission: rather than being quick jaunts like the N7 Missions, there are longer Missions that are on par with the Side Missions from the focal planets in Acts 2 and 3 of the main campaign. They also focus around a returning character from Mass Effect 2!
