Battle Dungeon Guide
Unlocked once you become the third division captain of the Shinsengumi, the Battle Dungeons is an excellent distraction that can net you some amazing resources and provide you with a worthwhile challenge.
Prepare for the Dungeon
Battle Dungeons are short encounters that will send Ryoma and ask him to complete a few possible objectives in three different locations. To access these special missions, you will need to head to the Shinsengumi headquarters in Mibu and speak with the Mission Receptionists on the east side of the campus.
On the receptionist's screen, you will have some options available to you before tackling your first dungeon.
Formation: Arrange and set up your already recruited trooper characters, same as you can from the troopers tab in your main menu.
Dispatch: This is where you will select the location and mission you will go on. Before you can unlock the next area, you will need to complete all the missions in the previous one first, with missions increasing in difficulty as you go. The three different areas include:
- The Bandit's Cave (Low difficulty) - 10 missions
- The Bandit's Mine (Medium difficulty) - 10 missions
- The Sanada Stronghold (High difficulty) - 20 missions
Enlistment: Trooper Gacha! Pay increasingly more expensive amounts for better chances of getting rarer troopers to add to your army.
Inventory: Manage your personal inventory and storage the same as you would from any Jinzo shrine. Having a full stock of healing items will be important the further on you get, as bosses and missions can get pretty tough.
Trooper Registry: This is the list where you can check to see how many of the 400 potential troopers you have recruited so far.
How to play: You can refresh your basic knowledge of trooper cards and battle dungeons.
Dungeon Diving
Once you are ready to get to the dungeons, head to the dispatch screen and select the mission you have available.
The name of each dispatch location will tell you the goal you will be trying to achieve. Examples include "Defeat the X Squad" which just asks you to take out the enemies in the area, "Reclaim the Stolen 1000 Ryo Boxes" which has you find three items spread around the map; and "Defeat the Leader," which is a straight-up boss fight, just to list a few.
When selecting your dispatch mission, what is important to take into account and check on are what goodies you can potentially find in each mission. Prior to selecting the mission, check out the viewable list of obtainable items you can find, to help speed up that grinding and crafting process.
Once you begin the mission, you will have to progress through the area, taking out enemies and filling your map as you work to complete your objective. Some doors will require switches to open that can be found along the walls as you go with the final door only opening once the objective has been completed.
Upon opening that final door, you will be greeted to a boss fight that will present you with your final challenge of the mission. Take care of them, and you will complete the mission and be able to claim the spoils of your conquest!
Battle Dungeons are the best way to grind for levels and crafting resources, especially for late game, so expect to spend a lot of time going through these bandit-infested dungeons!
