How to Install Official Mods

Posted:

Hogwarts Legacy provides an official mod manager for PC players on Steam and the Epic Games Store to expand the game's magical adventures. Live on January 30, 2025, this official modding support includes over 100 mods available in Hogwarts Legacy, along with a Creator Kit for modders to create custom content for new quests, dungeons, and cosmetics to share with the community. Here's a step-by-step guide for how to install official mods for Hogwarts Legacy on PC.

Required Step to Use Hogwarts Legacy's In-Game Mods

Before getting started, players need to link their Steam or Epic Games Store account with their WB Games account. This step is required in order to access the official mod manager in Hogwarts Legacy. You can do this in two ways:

  • Go to account.wbgames.com to sign in or create an account, then in the Account Settings, select the Connection tab. Find either Steam or Epic Games and select Connect to bring up a login process to link your accounts. You can only link your PC account to one WB Games account, so this is also the place where you can disconnect your accounts if needed.
  • Alternatively, you can follow this same step-by-step process to link your accounts by visiting go.wbgames.com/PCModLinking directly. If you are not redirected to the WB Account Setting page, you'll still be able to link to a PC account on this website.

How to Enable Official Mods in Hogwarts Legacy

Now that your accounts are linked, launch Hogwarts Legacy on your PC. From the Main Menu, choose 'Play Mods'.

Here, you can search for mods on the Discovery or Browse tab to install them. There are mod category filters to explore character, UI, fashion, mounts, gameplay, and more. You can also sort to find the highest-rated or most recently updated mods from the Browse tab.

Select a mod you want to install to bring up the Mod Detail page and hit the Install button. All your favorited and installed mods will appear in the Library tab.

Enter the Enable Mods tab to apply the mods to an existing save slot or create a new character to start a new save slot. Applying mods to an existing save will make a copy that is separate from any of your unmodded saves. When you select your save slot, you'll see a list of your installed mods. Select which mods you want to enable or disable.

Then, select "Apply Changes" to bring up a prompt to "Apply Changes" or "Apply Changes and Continue". You're all set!

Keep in mind that to play Hogwarts Legacy with mods, you need to load your Modded Saves from the Enable Mods menu. If you start your game from the main menu, you'll be loading unmodded saves.

Important Notes About the Hogwarts Legacy Official Mod Manager

Note that enabling new mods will require players to load shaders before being able to play. Similar to other modded games, Hogwarts Legacy achievements are disabled when playing a Mod Enabled save.

Additionally, modders must abide by Hogwarts Legacy mod guidelines, including compliance with the ESRB 'Teen' Rating and no use of third-party IP without permission. Mods that violate the outlined standards may be removed. These guidelines are detailed on the WB Games Support site. If players find mods that violate the Hogwarts Legacy in-game mod standards, there is a Report button on the Mod Detail page for each available mod.

If you encounter issues after installing mods to your Hogwarts Legacy save slots, be sure to check that you've installed the latest version first. Sometimes even changing the order of installed mods or disabling recently installed mods can help. However, you may encounter compatibility issues with multiple mods installed.
