This page contains some basic information about game mechanics.
Dual Strike
Units standing next to each other have a chance to Dual Strike; this is shown underneath the supporting character's name when initiating a fight. When a Dual Strike occurs, the supporting unit will attack along with the main unit.
Support Block
Units standing next to each other also have a chance to Support Block. While less likely than a Dual Strike, it can be extremely helpful. When a Support Block occurs, the support character will negate all damage from an enemy attack. The support character is not harmed in any way.
Pairing Units
Moving one of your units next to another and selecting the Pair Up command will join the two units together, increasing their stats. Paired units also have a chance to Dual Strike and Support Block. If you pair powerful units with weaker units, the weaker unit will benefit from the stronger's stats, making it easier to level weak characters.
Calculating Damage
Looking at character stats before fighting can show you how much damage a character will deal and take in combat.
To find the damage done in combat, look at the attacker's Atk rating, and subtract the defender's appropriate defensive stat (Def for most weapons, Res for magic). The chance to hit is the attacker's Hit rating, minus the defender's Avo.
